Rhys Clark

We are all devastated by the passing of Rhys, who died suddenly and unexpectedly in Vancouver, Canada as a result of a drug overdose and fentanyl poisoning.

He is survived by his loving parents Julian & Loraine (Rowsell) of Salt Spring Island, his two adoring sisters and their partners Gemma & Matt Hosford, and Hannah & Nolan Den Duyf, an amazing Nephew Finley Hosford, two beautiful Nieces who arrived soon after Rhys’ passing, Penelope Hosford and Olive Den Duyf, his Step Grandmother Pauline Rowsell on the Isle of Wight in the U.K. and his Grandmother Minke Clark in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Rhys is also survived by many uncles, aunts and cousins located around British Columbia, the east coast of the United States and England. Rhys was predeceased by his two grandfathers, Gerald Clark and David Rowsell, both of whom Rhys greatly admired and both of whom will have undoubtedly greeted him in heaven with open arms.

Rhys was one of a kind – charismatic, compassionate, loving, kind, funny, incredibly smart, unnaturally curious, always living life to its fullest and all too often taking risks he shouldn’t have. For the first 20 years of his life, Rhys turned everything he touched to gold – a loving brother and son, a close friend to many, an all-state drummer, an accomplished musician, a straight “A” student, an awarded artist, actor and film producer, an amazing sailor, skier and all-round athlete. There was nothing Rhys couldn’t do. Tragically, his charmed life and unbridled potential was derailed by addiction and mental health issues. Rhys fought those issues valiantly for the last ten years of his life, only to be diminished little by little and finally overcome. 

Rhys believed everything in our universe is connected as one, that there is no such thing as death, and that one’s energy and soul live on forever. We will always be connected to you Rhys. Please know that our love for you will remain as strong as ever until we meet again…
