You loved sports; team sports, solo sports, the competition, the challenge to master something new – all of it was exciting and fun…

At a young age, you loved to have balls thrown your way and try to smack them with your large yellow bat. This is what you thought baseball was all about – that is until you went to a Blue Jays game and were startled to learn there were other positions than the pitcher and batter! You played T-ball which lead to little league baseball where you excelled as both a pitcher and a batter. One of your proudest moments was the day you pitched a perfect game and hit a grand slam home run in the same game!

You played competitive soccer for the four towns that made up the Northern Valley. You played forward and loved to score goals. You were fast and pretty nimble with the ball, so had a fair bit of success.

You learned how to sail in Optis at 8 years old, and it wasn’t long before you were racing in regattas and winning awards. You had an amazing couple of summers racing 420s with Lucas and travelling all over the eastern seaboard. You enjoyed cruising with your parents. But I suspect your greatest passion in sailing was the Nyack Boat Club Junior Sailing program. You loved it when you were a participant; the spills, the adventure, the overnights at Croton Point, the camaraderie with fellow sailors. And you loved being an instructor and passing your passion on to younger, newer sailors!

You were an accomplished skier, starting out in Don Valley, progressing to the Georgian Peaks in Collingwood, and absolutely loving and thriving during our almost annual trips back to Whistler.

And there were many other sports you loved as well. At a very young age you loved gymnastics. Anything in the water, snorkeling, bogie boarding were always a blast. Drew made you a roller skating ramp for the driveway, and you’d spend hours at it. You competed on the schools Track and Field team. And you played golf just down the street at the local course where you’d stand out in your plaid shirts and shorts and pick-up games with anyone including the adult members. And playing tennis together in Vancouver is a particularly cherished memory.
